Local Lens: Kathy Larrabee of Keswick Gourmet Authentic Marinara

Every weekend, to continue indefinitely, I've decided to spotlight a local business and it's owner.

For the weekend of January 11-12, I'd like you to meet Kathy Larrabee, founder and owner of Keswick Gourmet.

Keswick Gourmet, founded by Kathy Larrabee, operates from her country kitchen in beautiful Keswick, VA.

Keswick is a rural mountain hamlet nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy and sampling some of her homemade marinara sauce at my local IGA grocery store a few weeks ago. To say it was delicious is a huge understatement!  I took this opportunity to speak with Kathy about the ingredients in her marinara sauce. It contains zero cholesterol, no added sugars, and has only 35 calories per 1/2 cup serving.  It is truly simple, delicious, and pure.  It's like homemade in a jar!

From her website, Keswick Gourmet, Kathy describes the ingredients she uses in her sauces:

"Our tomato based marinara tastes of ripe and juicy Italian tomatoes that have a perfect balance of acidity and natural sweetness, with no added sugar. From there the flavors are built, layer upon layer, by sautéing sweet onions and fresh garlic in Extra Virgin olive oil. Next, fresh carrots are added to enhance the natural sweetness, and finally just the right blend of Italian herbs are added to complete the marinara."

Her incredible sauce is currently available in 15 different stores and markets across Virginia!  You can view a list of stores that carry her marinara sauce by clicking HERE.

In addition to having the BEST marinara sauce I've ever tasted (seriously, it's THAT good!) Kathy is a genuinely likable person.  I enjoyed our conversation immensely and left the store that day with Keswick Gourmet Marinara Sauce on all of my future shopping lists.
